Polymer Clay Canes for Beginners

27 videos, step by step, beginner cane workshop beginner Cane Tutorial What people are saying about this tutorial. jennifer rose Just finished this first workshop on how to make canes, and I must say I learned so much. This is exactly what I have been looking for, someone who could explain cane making in a step by step that process that I could replicate. I watched the videos, went into my studio and began to create all of the canes Alice showed. I finally have results I can be proud of, and I say thank you so much for doing this workshop. My only question now is when do we get more workshops. If you are only going to take one online class let it be this workshop. Thank you Alice for your hard work, and your dedication to helping others learn the joys of polymer clay.

Stroppel Cane Takes a Leap Off a Tall Building

Angela Natali (cleobs on Flickr) just commented on my Florida Sunshine picture. I went over to her flickr site to see what she has been up to and look what I found. This skyline bracelet is just fabulous..don’t you think so? I’m simply delighted.

Go tell cleobs what you think……..

I LOVE this – I’ve said all along that your Stroppel Cane is like Stained Glass Windows, but I never even thought about Stained Glass Buildings – Brava, Angela!!!

Charline, I love it too. See you soon!,,,

  • Just spent two days working on variations of the Stroppel cane. First made it as I always do, then rolled it fairly flat. Then I cut thin stripes and put them together to form a sheet. LOVE IT. Then I rolled it into a jellyroll. I’ll post them both when I get a chance. I’ve been bulding up a colllection of experimental sheets. Fun for the dreary days up here in Mass.

ah Peg, so glad that you have the SC to keep you busy. I love that there are so many thing yet to do with one of these canes. And you are so inventive and I know you love to experiment just like I do. Can’t wait to see what you’ve done.
thanks for taking time to let me know your play with the canes.

Does anyone recommend using a sealer to protect finished polymer clay switchplates and/or cuff bracelets? I ask because if i use lots of 3d items, i’m concerned these smaller detailed items (esp. on switchplates/bracelets) will crack or break off, I’d prefer the natural texture of pc however…Also, would it be enough to cover a switchplate w/pc then use a strong sealant, so i don’ have to use an adhesive at all? Just wondering/
    thanks,’K

Kris, I would make sure that the smaller derails don’t stick out too much and are well attached. I cover my pen and ink bracelets with liquid clay. I think that would work for the switch plates as well. I’m not a fan of shiny pc. unless it’s buffed.
