After spending more time with this new color primer, I can’t wait to try some of the exercises. I’ve done some of them before from Maggie’s website and videos, but there is so much more in the book and I can’t wait to continue to experiment. Maggie has three videos that will help you when you get to Chapter Five, Mixing Colors That Flow.
The first video is Color Scales Tutorial and found on Maggie’s website. The second is Color Scales II Playing with Color Scales and I could only find it on You Tube! The last is, Color Scale Triangles in Polymer Clay.
These are wonderful videos and will help you, but having the book brings it all together. The long awaited book is finally available at Amazon today
I’m most excited that Maggie will be posting “Weekend Extras ” on her blog, to encourage you to go through each of the exercises in the book. She will start with tips for the very first exercise, “Testing Package Colors.” you will be able to ask questions and post comments.
Lindly’s blog is full of color information and links, with a fabulous link to Dulux paint in the UK with a color system that is really helpful.

Adrienne, I just was on her blog this Saturday morning and she has comments, and extra exercises. Plus she answers questions with her FAQ’s section and adds a few tips as well. Really nice of her.
I need a book that teaches how to make canes without translusent backing. I saw one and I thought it was here. But now I can’t find it. You use some silly puddy when packing and then it lifts away from your design later. Do u know what I am talking about?

I feel as tho I am a little late to the Color Inspirations party. As a newcomer to Polymer Clay, I am so excited and inspired to learn everything I can. Color mixing is most definitely something I need to understand, but I am having trouble because I cannot find the colors recommended in this awesome book.
The reason I fell as tho I am late is, this book was published in 2000….fast forward, it is now 2014, so I can understand that Premo must effect changes in their product to satisfy an ever growing, evolving market.
If anyone has any color substitute suggestions for someone new to polymer clay, I would be very appreciative of a response to my question.
Welcome to this wonderful world Isla, and don’t worry, Polyform still makes Colbalt blue and zinc yellow. The polymer clay community spoke up and Polyform listened. They just don’t sell it in stores. You can do a search for the colors, there are several places to buy it. Polymerclaysuperstore.com is one and Polymerclayexpress.com is another.
So you see you’re not too late at all.
