Polymer Clay Canes for Beginners 27 videos, step by step, beginner cane workshop
What people are saying about this tutorial.
jennifer rose
Just finished this first workshop on how to make canes, and I must say I learned so much. This is exactly what I have been looking for, someone who could explain cane making in a step by step that process that I could replicate. I watched the videos, went into my studio and began to create all of the canes Alice showed. I finally have results I can be proud of, and I say thank you so much for doing this workshop. My only question now is when do we get more workshops. If you are only going to take one online class let it be this workshop. Thank you Alice for your hard work, and your dedication to helping others learn the joys of polymer clay.

I’ve been working on several things today. This is just one of the bracelets I’ve finished and I’m working on a cocktail shaker. Too Funny! This girl has a flamboyant hat as always and a checker board blouse that matches the lime green checker board bracelet I posted yesterday.
Over on Facebook, I had so many people talk about loving the lime green color that I thought I’d share the recipe with you. I know that I am not the first one to print this, but to tell you the truth, I have no idea where I discovered it. I do think pairing the two colors is something I did on my own years ago.
Lime Green Recipe
1 part Zinc Yellow
1/16 black
Yep, that’s it! That’s all there is to it, and the second color is Zinc Yellow straight out of the package. When placed next to the lime green it looks like a light lime green. Easy, breezy.
Go Green!
Lime Green Cuff Bracelet
While mixing colors and making canes for my canister, I decided to make this fun bracelet for sale. Added it to my Etsy shop.
Profile Face Canister Side 2
Here’s the other side of the canister made with two different profiles. You can see the other side here. The hair from both flow around half the canister. It was fun to do and I think it will go next to my coffee canister and hold …let’s see…..flour? NOT sugar…oh no…pasta maybe.
Profile face cane on canister
Today I’ve been working on a canister using my profile faces. I made several canisters years ago and still have one left that I use for coffee and I enjoy it everyday. I’ve had two canisters just waiting for me to get to them. I thought now was the time.
This is side one and there is another face on the other side. I’m only about a third of the way through, but thought I would share this much. I’ve used one of Barbara McQuire’s stamps to impress the background.
More colors to choose and a rim to add. Tomorrow………….
The Orlando Area Polymer Clay Guild is sponsoring my Profile Face Cane Class on September 25th, 2010. As a special bonus for the Orlando Guild, I’m including the links to my Profile Face Cane Tutorial. That’s a step by step pdf with colored instructions and a 40 minute video. There is a maximum of 20 students. Please contact OAPCG for more information.
If you know the Orlando group, you know we are going to have fun. So bring your sense of humor and your pasta machine because these women will make you laugh and I’ll show you how to create some real characters.
Profile Face Cane - Cuff Bracelet
Here’s a new bracelet finished yesterday, she’s fun and colorful and looking for a home. A character for sure, I’m posting this bracelet on my Etsy Site.

Girlfriends Galore 3
Another bunch of girls going to my Etsy Shop. These bracelets have 7 girls in 7 different hats arranged around the length of the bracelet. So colorful and fun to wear. No problem matching whatever you decide to wear that day.
Colorful and Fun to Wear
Still have to find time to finish the idea I have for my tropical leaves necklace and am working on profile face canes for a workshop I have coming up. I also have to plan a three week class for beginners.
I’ll be demo-ing polymer clay at Highlands Art League on the 2nd Friday Gallery Walk in downtown Sebring. Sept. 10, 2010. It’s always a fun evening and I’ll be demo-ing in the visual arts center down by Lake Jackson. It’s a building I worked on as Director for the Art League so we could have classes there. It’s a wonderful space, if you’re anywhere near Sebring, come on over.

Girlfriends Galore 2
I’ve uploaded another girlfriend bracelet to my Etsy Shop. I’m trying very hard to get ahead of myself. I’m going to be teaching more this year and have to create more stock now.
Girlfriends Galore 2
I’m also trying a new background. I spend alot of time cutting out my items in Photoshop and am trying to find a way to cut down on that. I know the other looks better, but does this work too? Opinions, be honest.
Girlfriends 2
Another bracelet for sale in my Etsy Shop. I’m in the faces/girlfriend makin’ mood. I have a couple more already baked and ready for pictures. That’s the part that is a chore for me. I can do it, it’s not hard, it’s just that I’d rather be making something else. Like the rest of my leaf necklace.
Oh well, just have to do it. I still haven’t taken pictures of the individual face beads to put in the shop. I sold a couple to my neighbor from across the lake, thanks Karen…..and I think some others are going this week, so I might not have to post them on Etsy, we’ll see.
In the meantime, take a look at this girlfriend bracelet, it really could be the perfect gift for a special friend. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Girlfriends Forever
I was delighted that the bracelet I put up yesterday sold last night, it’s going to live in Cyprus. I love it when my work goes somewhere else in the world, it’s exciting. I have several more in the works, and I’m still trying to finish the Tropical Leaves necklace.
The Other Girlfriend
I’ve posted this girlfriend bracelet in my Etsy Store. One is a blonde and one is a redheaded woman. So much fun to make, to decide what they’re going to wear and what kind of hats to put on their heads.
Okay off to work on the necklace.
Girlfriends Galore
A new listing in my Etsy Shop. This Girlfriend Bracelet has 7 fabulous friends dressed for the town. Trust me, this is one fun to wear bracelet.
I’m still working on the beads from yesterday. Everyone voted for a necklace and I agreed. Sherry McKinney came over yesterday and we had a great clay day. She worked on some luscious animal cane beads for a special order and I worked on the necklace. I had to make some more in between beads and at Sherry’s suggestion my own o-rings. Bake, work on girlfriend bracelets, get beads out of the oven and back to stringing.
Then we decided that a bead closure looked better than anything else, so I had to make those beads, bake and by that point Sherry had long since gone home and I to bed.
This morning I began again to string the beads. Then they didn’t hang just right. So back to the drawing board and other ideas. Suddenly a fabulous idea just jump from the ether into my head and that is what I’m dying to get to. So post this, dinner, then to see if my idea will work.
Tomorrow…………
