The Stroppel Cane – Saving Unused Cane Slices From Ending Up in the Mud Pile!
I am very excited to share my newest invention with you. I call it The Stroppel Cane! For the last couple of months, as I clean up my workspace after a project, I make a Stroppel Cane from the “not so perfect cane slices” and any other scraps I have on my work tile.
You can use these canes in any number of ways and I’ll be featuring some projects here on my blog in the future. From time to time, just do a search for The Stroppel Cane and see what comes up.
Please leave a comment it you liked this new video. Without feed back I don’t know if what I’m sharing is reaching anyone or if you are enjoying or finding what I’m sharing useful. And do share it on Facebook and Twitter and send the link to your friends. I love hearing from you in any form. Enjoy!
Me too majda. I’m not sure why some people can watch it and others can’t. Just lay down a thin layer of black, layer your scrap cane slices, place another layer of black and continue until you have several layers. Slice the stack in half lengthwise and stack. Hope this helps.
Here’s a solution maybe for all those having trouble viewing the video, sent to me by Ronalyn Hurley, thank you so much Ronalyn.
Ronalyn said, “I had the same problem (I updated twice!) and then I finally noticed the message at the top of her page where it said “Update plugin” and “Run this time”. I clicked on “Run this time” and was able to watch it.”
This is so frustrating! That run now idea you just put up doesn’t work for me. Your other tutorials that I can see are great, but I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to see this one. I give up.
I’m really sorry Louise
Why Louise?
It is very simple and easy.
Look what I made:

Alice
Hi Alice. Finally got my first piece using the Stroppel Cane ready to show! It’s listed in my Etsy shop or you can see it on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaye13/ It’s kind of a crazy quilt as far as colors, but I like it. I made a new cane last night with a particular color scheme and am excited to see what I can do with it today. Thanks again, Alice!
Wow that created wonderful colors on that pot. Thanks so much for sharing.
I wish I could view the video, did you take it down? I love the cane and would love to try it.

Hi Denise, I didn’t take it down, it’s still there. I don’t know why you might not be able to see it. I’m sorry you’re having trouble.

Mimi-Pinson.
You’re welcome Mimi, have fun!
I am glad that you shared your method. I also came up with a method to reuse (not Mud)my canes. Although, not as creative, as yours, it’s nice that you shared it with the PC Community.
Thanks Cathy, it’s hard to resist trying to do something creative with old canes and cane slices.
I’ll bet yours is clever. I just had something I thought others might be able to use.
