Polymer Clay Canes for Beginners 27 videos, step by step, beginner cane workshop
What people are saying about this tutorial.
jennifer rose
Just finished this first workshop on how to make canes, and I must say I learned so much. This is exactly what I have been looking for, someone who could explain cane making in a step by step that process that I could replicate. I watched the videos, went into my studio and began to create all of the canes Alice showed. I finally have results I can be proud of, and I say thank you so much for doing this workshop. My only question now is when do we get more workshops. If you are only going to take one online class let it be this workshop. Thank you Alice for your hard work, and your dedication to helping others learn the joys of polymer clay.

Thanks to Mira Pinki Krispil for featuring my girlfriend bracelet in her “like like like A Virgin” Etsy Treasury. Lots of fun and funky things in this treasury.
Mira is an amazing polymer clay artist and you can see her work in her Etsy Shop and on her website. She also posts pictures of her work on flickr. Grab a cup of coffee before you click on any of those links, you’ll be there awhile.
Black and White Treasury by Patricia Paquin
I’m very excited to be listed again in another Black and White Treasury on Etsy. I guess there is a reason that I have been doing so many things in black and white. Fashion trends are featuring black in everything from eye glasses to home decor. The hot HBO series, “Mad Men” is leading the wave and the 50s and 60s are to the younger generation what the 20s and 30s were to the older generation. What goes around comes around I guess.
But black and white has always been a strong fashion statement and it shows up heavily at least once each decade and never really goes away entirely. I have always made things in black and white and have been waiting for it to come back strong. Well here it is and I for one am dancin’.
The curator of this treasury is Patricia Paquin, a very talented ceramic artists from Canada. You can find her funky faces and fine work in her Etsy shop, ARTISTS’ LOFT Patricia Paquin.
She is now the owner of my “Baby Blues” necklace with the crazy lips and eyes, and I am very lucky to own not one but two of her “Funky Face Trivets”. Not this one but like this one. Can you see why we like each other’s work?
The internet is such a wonderful place. It allows us to find artists that we would never be able to come in contact with. I really do have a wonderful time here.
Thanks Patricia, and if anyone stops in to see her, tell her Alice says hello.
Etsy Treasury - by Skywind
I’m thrilled…my Coco-nut girl is famous and she’s making people laugh. Thanks to Pat Carlson, who by the way makes the most adorable mini books you ever saw, Coco-nut girl is in the treasury, “Smile, it makes people wonder what you’re doing”.
Pat’s books actually open and you can read the stories. If you have a doll house or a miniature collection, you have to take a look at Pat’s shop, Skywind on Etsy. I mean really…….. look at this.

Change of Face
I was thrilled to wake up this morning to find that I had been listed in not one but two Esty Treasuries. This first one features my Zentangle Bottle Stopper. Look at all the cool faces and you know I love faces. Thanks to Angel from Angel Strumpfer Digital Photography for showing my girl…… She has some pretty interesting work in her Etsy shop too so check her out.
blue is an autumn color too
I was delighted to see my Baby Blues necklace featured in this wonderful Treasury. Thanks to The Vintage Recycler for choosing my piece. She has some really cool items for sale in her Etsy Shop. Lots and lots of beads and buttons.
Polymer Artists Showcase - tejae floyde
tejae floyde spent many hours gathering polymer clay designs for her beautiful new book, Polymer Artists Showcase, released just this week. I was fortunate to have my work featured 3 times in what is truly a delightful assemblage of artwork from around the world.
This ” inspiring collection of polymer art designs” include artists such as Maureen Carlson, Laura Bocchi, Marcia Palmer, Kylee Milner, Julie Picarello, Mira (Pinki) Krispil, Barb Fajardo and of course, tejae floyde herself, plus so many more I can’t list them all here.
You can order this book by clicking here, or take some time to learn more about tejae and her art by visiting her blog, or visit her flickr site to take a look at her heart that went to Synergy II this year.
Thank you tejae.
Storybox #15
I have another blog that is just for my pleasure and the entertainment of whoever wants to stop by. It’s called The Figurative Artbeat. It’s loaded with figurative artists in every medium.
I don’t usually post here every time I add another artist there. I do however let my polymer clay friends that visit me here know when I’ve posted about a polymer clay artist on The Figurative Artbeat.
I’m pleased to tell you that I’m featuring Maureen Carlson on The Figurative Artbeat. She has new work on her site and Storybox #15 (above) is probably my favorite.
Family and Friends
After Maureen read her feature, she said it was funny that I should mention her book Family and Friends as it was about to go out of print. If you don’t have this book and would like really easy to follow instructions for making pc figures, you should make sure you pick up this book before it’s gone.
I was delighted to be featured in an article on ClayLessons.com. It is a sister site to JewelryLessons.com which is the brain child of artist Eni Oken. Both sites offer tutorials by a wide range of artists, for free and for purchase. There are tons of tips and lots of helpful articles. I wish Eni and all the artists lots of luck with this new site. You can learn more at www.claylessons.com. Thank you Eni for the article.
