What people are saying about this tutorial.

Just finished this first workshop on how to make canes, and I must say I learned so much. This is exactly what I have been looking for, someone who could explain cane making in a step by step that process that I could replicate. I watched the videos, went into my studio and began to create all of the canes Alice showed. I finally have results I can be proud of, and I say thank you so much for doing this workshop. My only question now is when do we get more workshops. If you are only going to take one online class let it be this workshop. Thank you Alice for your hard work, and your dedication to helping others learn the joys of polymer clay.

I just love your face canes. The profile ones are great as well! This is one thing I want to challenge myself with someday since it seems like so much fun!
Thanks Carolyn, I do have fun with the face canes. They are a challenge too. I’ve made some that no one will never see. But when they turn out okay, they are good for tons of characters.
Those are wonderful profile faces, Alice ! I haven’t tried making a face cane in almost 10 years, when I was in my polymer clay infancy. I remember that I used tons of clay (much of which was wasted at the ends after reduction). What was left was a really bizzare face with teeny eyes and lips and a huge nose, LOL! However, I’ve since learned a lot about cane construction, clay consistency, and how to reduce. So maybe it’s about time that I “Face My Fears”, to quote a title from a chapter in Judy Belcher’s DVD Millefiori Story.
Dora, your canes are so wonderful, you do them so well, you won’t have any trouble at all. I’m getting ready to video a couple of tutorials for the faces that I do. I’m going to try to get the profile cane done this week. Very simple as compared to the full face. And you do not want to see some of my first face canes. Like yours, their eyes and lips were a joke. The secret is to not make a giant cane. I’ll post a picture of the profile face cane soon to show you the size.
